This weekend has been a whirlwind. My good friend from Houston, Winn and a travel companion decided to come out east and visit. We hit H&M, which they currently don't have in Texas for her to pick up pieces that wouldn't be available back Houston. Even though it rained all day we still had a blast. We finished with dinner at Hank's Oyster Bar in Dupont for a casual evening out. Saturday was the BIG highlight. I had to work at the yoga studio and Winn took her first yoga class. She really enjoyed it and is determined to find a studio on Houston. After yoga we headed to Maryland for crab cakes and then to Tyson's for more shopping. We hit Neimans so I could smell the new Valentino scent, Bloomingdales because as much as I tried not to like the Juicy Couture fragrance, it's delicious. They even included a dusting powder in the collection with shimmer. Everyone knows I love to sparkle or maybe I love the fact that we have the same initials :) I'm sending a few used fragrances to mother and aunt in Louisiana because of my new purchase.
Last night capped off a wonderful weekend full of good food, good wine, shopping, makeup play, and lots of laughter. I was finally able to hang out, eat, drink and get my face blessed to be made up by Lianne a/k/a "The Makeup Girl." Walking into Lianne's home I felt immediately welcomed, it may have had something to do with the rack of lamb and vegetable gratin she was making for dinner. We talked of our mutual interests other than makeup, i.e., Paris, food, wine, addiction to our blackberry and so much more. I truly have made another friend out here. You can see the picture and all the products she used on her website.
Great New Cleansing Products: I am still trying to balance my face from feeling as dry as the Sahara every night after taking off my makeup. I realized that I had to alter to cleansing routine and as much as I love to "wash" my face and have a squeaky clean feeling it's really drying me out. I found a few products that are cleansing and leaving me with a feeling of clean without dryness. The products are by Skinsational Spa. The spa has launched a skincare line. It makes since that aestheticians would create products because they deal with skin all day long. What an absolutely fun job! I have been alternating between the Grapefruit Foaming Facial Wash and the Lavender Cleansing Soy Milk. I use the soy milk cleanser to melt and wipe all the makeup off my face each night, then follow through the Grapefruit Facial Wash. My skin is clean, glowing and not dry.
Beauty News: J. Lo Fragrances are releasing Glow After Dark in December; Kylie Minogue is releasing Darling in Europe beginning in November; Clarins will be relaunching its makeup line; Bulgari is releasing a new edition of Omnia with Omnia Amethyste; Ferragamo is releasing a new edition of Incanto called Incanto Shine and John Varvatos will be releasing a women's fragrance in the spring.
Stay smart, stay strong, stay pretty!

Hey Julia,
I had a blast in DC this past weekend. You sure know how to show a girl around town. The shopping, food, yoga, and company were great! I can't wait for my return trip in April. On my next visit, I must meet the makeupgirl. Also, thanks for the makeup tips. The Bobbie Brown Bronzer and Laura Mercier Stardust is fabulous! Thanks for a wonderful time. Until next time, it's all about the pretty!!!
