Oscar Recap
The saying "if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all," should not apply to Oscar fashion. My biggest disappointment was Jennifer Hudson. When I saw her on the red carpet, I was on the phone with Lianne and almost spit out my chocolate martini. We were both in utter silence. Jennifer of the beautiful blue Vera Wang at the Golden Globes, the gorgeous beaded Michael Kors at the SAG Awards and the "I'm not impressed" Oscar de la Renta at the Oscars. I adore Oscar de la Renta. I love him from sun up to sun down and in between. But the jacket did not work for me. The hair going to the side did not work for me. Jennifer has amazing skin, so any makeup is going to look pretty. Yet, she took home the gold and her speech was great in giving tribute to her grandmother. I teared up.
When I think of tops, I think of more than the dress. For me the makeup has to work with the dress and these ladies did a great job (because of great makeup artists). My tops were Penelope Cruz, Cate Blanchett, Jada Pinkett Smith, who always gets it right, Helen Mirren, Kate Winslet, Rinko Kikuchi, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tonya Lewis Lee (wife of Spike), and Emily Blunt in that stunning blue Calvin Klein. Nicole Kidman looked good, but to be honest she can wear a couture dress with a big bow behind her neck courtesy of Balenciaga, which most women can't. Reese Witherspoon looked good, but I'm getting tired of all the hair extensions on ever red carpet. It's getting too long. The reason Gwyneth's hair looks so good is because it's hers. You can't see that "here's where mine starts and the package begins." Penelope Cruz's skin was just crazy. Kate Winslet has always had amazing skin and she gets prettier every year. I wonder if she is still using Eve Lom products. Reese had the perfect smoky eye. Not to dark and not too light. Jada Pinkett Smith had everything working. The flawless mother of two glowed. I can't wait to watch the Fashion Police tonight.
The Oscars also made me stay up "way" pass my bedtime. As I mentioned before, I tried Tricia Sawyer's Eye Slept this morning. This morning I truly looked like I slept longer than I did. I used it before my concealer. The light reflecting pigments in this gave me the "I've been on holiday" rested look. Tricia, I love this stuff. I've watched all your videos, but I really need you to start selling more of your brushes. Especially that contour brush you used in one off the videos. Thank you.
I also want to mention that I will definitely continue writing here. Although I'm writing for VibeVixen.com, AATP is my baby. So ladies, don't worry. My obsession for beauty will continue to reach out to the masses.
Have a great day and may the lipgloss be with you.

My favorite of the evening was Anika Noni Rose -- so gorgeous! I was disappointed with JHud as well . . . but at least she took off that stupid jacket before she went up to accept her award.

Hmmm... I liked Reese's extensions. And I liked Gwyneth's long hair too.
As for La Hudson, wow... I guess we were all disappointed with the jacket over the Oscar de la Renta (imagine that - being "disappointed" with de la Renta!)
I was so disappointed, I'm still pretending she wore that Cavalli gown she wore the rest of the night instead.
And, you're right about Nicole Kidman, Julia. Can you imagine anyone else in that bow? Ugh! I shudder at the thought...

The hair was too long!! Everyone has a weave now.... *sigh*

It's long, but those were extensions. Look at a picture closely and look at how her real hair hits her shoulders and the rest of the hair is long and blunt cut. Her real hair is in layers. It's not just hair, it's seem as everyone is using the entire bag of hair, just because the stylist has it. Gwyneth's hair is long and you can definitely see a difference. At first, I thought it had grown out, but the more I saw it and the pictures today, I realize it was extensions. She still looked beautifully in that dress though.

Was Reese's look courtesy of hair extensions? I have seen countless photos of her as of late, and her hair is very long now.

Jamie, I'm getting tired of all the extensions. I love me some Beyonce. I really do. I've seen her up close and personal and she really does have skin that looks like brown butter. With that being said, I didn't like the hair, too long. I didn't love the dress, but not necessarily dislike it either. I was really looking for makeup from her too. She has great eyes and lips and I felt they were a bit lacking. She wasn't bad, it was one of those like "okay."
